Employer/Broker FAQs
Yes. We have now restored our normal billing process. Starting the week of August 19, 2024, we are mailing paper bills for the August billing cycle – these bills reflect the current month of coverage and will present you with the amount owed as of the date the invoice was produced. You can once again view both current and prior bills in your online account, including those bills not previously produced.
Change Healthcare (Change) notified us that, based on their review to date, member data from BCBSRI was not impacted in the cyberattack they experienced. While their review is not complete, it is in the late stages.
Change, which is owned by UnitedHealth Group and is one of the largest companies to connect doctors’ offices, pharmacies, and hospitals with health insurers, experienced a criminal cyberattack earlier this year that impacted the healthcare and personal information of many Americans.
Change will soon begin mailing notice letters to those impacted individuals for whom it has a sufficient address. These notices may include our members because of their relationships with other healthcare organizations, such as their doctors, pharmacies, or other insurers.
Your employees may have been affected because Change had their information from another source. Change has let us know that, to date, BCBSRI data was not impacted by the incident.
An individual’s information may have been affected because of their relationships with other healthcare organizations, such as their doctors, pharmacies, or other insurers.
Many individuals may get a letter from Change in the coming months notifying them that their personal and/or health information has been compromised and offering them two years of free credit monitoring and identity theft protection.
