An accomplished leader in the health and wellness marketplace, Mr. Wolfkiel is responsible for leading a large sales team that covers multiple market segments. He and his team are promoting innovative benefits that reward members for healthy choices and offer unique primary care options. This includes improving the customer experience by developing and executing a proactive sales and consultative account management strategy and function.
Mr. Wolfkiel is responsible for the global strategic positioning and sales of Blue Cross products through a variety of channels, including general agents, brokers, consultants, intermediaries and a direct sales force. He is also charged with the creation and execution of our distribution exchange strategy for the 2014 healthcare reform mandates.
With over 20 years of industry experience, Mr. Wolfkiel joined Blue Cross in 2011, leading sales distribution and operations. Prior to joining Blue Cross, Mr. Wolfkiel served as Vice President, Market Practice Leader, for Humana Inc. in Atlanta, Georgia. He was responsible for the overall management of Humana’s sales and service initiatives and tactics within the small and large group commercial market segments. In addition, Mr. Wolfkiel previously served in executive leadership roles for several Aetna health plans in the Southeast region as well as Willis Insurance Services. His insurance career began at U.S. Healthcare in New York City, after he studied International Business at Hofstra University.
Mr. Wolfkiel has served as a keynote speaker at several healthcare conferences across the country, has led health plans through NCQA accreditation, and successfully managed the Aetna Prudential integration. He currently lives with his wife and two daughters in Barrington, Rhode Island.
As a new resident of Rhode Island, Mr. Wolfkiel is looking forward to becoming an active member of the local community. He recently volunteered in the 2012 Meeting Street Telethon and the Southern New England Heart Walk to benefit the American Heart Association.
