Scott Duhamel
Assistant to the General President, Eastern Region Political Director, International Union of Painters and Allied Trades; Secretary Treasurer, Rhode Island Building and Construction Trade Council.

One of the state’s most active labor leaders, Mr. Duhamel joined the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, District Council 11, Local 195 in 1985. He has held a number of key positions since being appointed organizer in 2003, including business representative, vice president of the district council, and trustee on the Local 195 health fund and the district council labor management fund.  Mr. Duhamel has served as secretary treasurer of the Rhode Island Building and Construction Trades Council since 2009, as a member of the Rhode Island AFL-CIO executive board since 2007, the Building Futures advisory council since  2007, the Providence Central Labor Council since 2007, the Build Rhode Island executive committee since 2008, the Emerald Cities Collaborative-Providence since 2010, the Rhode Island State Labor Relations Board since 2013, the Rhode Island State Council of the Arts since 2013, and was a board member of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island from 2011-2014, and was recently re-elected to the Board in 2015. He has also served as fundraising chair of Rhode Island Jobs with Justice since 2008. He was a member of Providence First Source Commission, Mayor Jorge Elorza’s economic development transition committee, and served as a commissioner of the special senate commission to study the challenges facing commercial development and the redevelopment of historic buildings in Rhode Island. Mr. Duhamel graduated from RIC with a BA in 1981 and has written about popular culture for various publications such as the Providence Phoenix and Rhode Island Monthly.
